The bone spoon is used to eat your morning soft-boiled egg, and can also serve as a baby spoon because bone does not alter the taste of foods, especially of eggs (the egg yolk is not good with silver, and it tarnishes it). For babies, the advantage is that it is soft and you can’t hurt your baby’s teeth or mouth with it. And it’s better, more safe and more ecological than plastic!

La cuillère à œuf en os est taillée par les artisans de Carnforth au nord de l’Angleterre. L’os résiste à de plus hautes températures que la corne, et est plus difficile à tailler, ce qui explique la forme assez primitive de cette cuillère. Comme la corne, l’os n’altère pas le goût des aliments ni ne se colore à leur contact, ce qui en fait une alternative naturelle au plastique. Traditionnellement, dans un service d’argenterie, la cuillère à œuf était faite d’os ou de corne car l’argent ternit au contact de l’œuf et lui donne mauvais goût. * On pourra l’utiliser comme cuillère pour bébé. *
